What this is
i2b reads a database, compares it with the one you are moving to, tells you what has nowhere to go, and then carries the data across — as a script you run yourself or as a write we perform against a target you name.
What is free, and what is not
Reading a dump, comparing it against a target and the loss report are free, for any database, without a licence. You pay for what you take away: the migration script, a write we perform, and workspaces that survive between sessions.
A licence bought for one migration is bound to the database it was quoted against — its level, its size and a fingerprint of its schema. Pointing it at a different database means a new quote, and the product will say so rather than run.
What we do not undertake
- We cannot promise a lossless move. We promise you will know the loss before it happens. That is what the report is for, and nothing is written until you have read it and said yes.
- We cannot verify that your target application works. We verify that the rows reached the tables and columns you mapped them to, and that foreign keys and constraints hold. Whether the software using that database behaves as expected is your responsibility.
- We do not keep backups of your data. You must make a backup of both source and target databases before running a migration.
Bespoke work and enterprise engagements
For databases where no preset exists, custom formats, or migrations requiring multi-agent reasoning, we provide engineering engagements under a separate statement of work.
Refunds
Because the free tier lets you inspect the full loss report before purchasing, licences are non-refundable once an export script has been generated or a live write has been initiated. If a technical defect on our side prevents a migration script from executing, contact us within 14 days for a replacement or refund.
